JIANZHAN
The “Jianzhan” are ancient Chinese tea sets used in the Song dynasty (宋朝).
These unique works belong to the immense heritage of the Asian
craftsmanship and are named after special glazes, applied at the time through
careful manual processing.
“Jianzhan” is an unpredictable polish, as its final colour changes according to
the position and the temperature of the object in the oven, very difficult to
control.This makes them literally unique and unrepeatable pieces.
The production process of these sets was performed by local artisans :after a
first firing of the clay cups, they applied the glaze by hand and then placed the
cups back into the oven, where the surface was crystallized.
